April 9/Post Via Email Test

April 9

60 miles bike ride. 24 in neighborhood to test patched inter tube then 36 miles to Vienna. Stopped Washington Bike store Fair Lakes. No tubes right size. Rode to Vienna to Spokes bike shop. Bought tubes. Returned home. Tired. Wind always seemed to be in my face. 30 degrees at start. Gray. Cold. Unpleasant ride. Tube with patches I put on bike last night held.

Talked to Michael, a running friend, who is also cycling across the country in June and July but by a northern route. Talked about bike bags, tires, training and adverse weather.

Gil: Good luck with your trip. This is really a great adventure. How many young will be willing and able to just go halfway. You can do it, Just remember only one more hill, we are just getting there.

Yo, Gil! Was it the Easter ham and deviled eggs training dinner that fueled your successful ride?!? If so, you have family to thank. :) You inspired me to ride in to work today. If my uncle can ride 3,000 miles, then I ought to pedal 10 to work! Onward!
